CCP may want to consider making the lethal strikes more common again, because they are an effective counter by tactical players against twitch players.
(I'm not saying twitch play isn't important, but simply that the current game-state has fewer counters for this tactic.)

this seems upside down to me...... if side A is stomping side B then side A will have more orbitals. side A is probably the hardcore and side B the casual. More orbitals for side A makes life alot less fun for side B and will reduce the fun for the casual playersand cause more to quit.
i personally would be for the removal of orbitals all together in pub matches. it just encourages the proto squads to crush the enemy even more, lets face it good battles are far and few between with match making trying to create battles in the shortest possible time, as opposed to trying to make actual good battles. saying that often i will see squads leave battle at the start before they deploy if they see another good corp squad against them - its a worrying trend and shows many favour the stomp over a good battle.

I don't know what game you've been playing but it's been this way for a while and the current changes that have taken place actually gives the lesser group at least the chance of dropping a flux strike where and when before clearly the team that was stacked and more formidable would have their run of OB strikes one after another , leaving the other team even more decimated and in a redline situation , that weaker team would not only have the redline to humiliate them , they would have the constant barrage of OB's to rub it in even more .
You MUST run with or in squads because the premise of most in the forums lately has been the bandwagon of strangling the solo player and attempting to incorporate mechanics to kill solo play all together .
Not everyone runs in or with squads , not everyone even wants to so why force it ?
Not saying that's what your trying to do this OP but more or less a general question to an observation .
I believe anymore restrictions to solo players would hurt the already diminished player base and changes to the mechanics of acquiring OB's could prove to be more damaging then helpful .
BW kills solo players .
Lack of matchmaking kills solo players and the general player base as a whole .
More changes to the OB systems could segregate the solo player even more , thus hurting them and the player base .
People are playing other games because they find them more entertaining and the fact that the entertainment of THIS game with instalments of mechanics like BW , have hurt this game but the fact of the matter is that you wont get many that understand this or even acknowledge it , it's ALWAYS something else but what's so obvious .
More people are playing other games because they have implemented so many restrictions to a game that touted it's self as one that allowed a player to customize their own path and way to fight in game .
More solo players have and are leaving because you have the " in-crowd " of the forums that push for mechanics that kill their experience in an attempt to FORCE them to change their inherent style to adopt the play style of someone else or better yet , a few other someone's .
But don't listen and don't acknowledge it , hell what do I know .?. I'm sure that someone will come along and try to debunk what I just said because the Dust forums are known for being filled with the brightest in the gaming world , hell ... look at the great state that this game is in from listening to their community .
As a solo player - really not into waiting for battles or corp politics ect you bring up some key points
BW has limited my play and affect on a battle significantly, before i would have 3 scout suits to drop 6 uplinks to influence a battle .....now i can only have 2 uplinks active with a scout suit or assault.
if i want lots of up links i need to go logi, but can't change out when the need arises. playing as a solo logi is not something i enjoy.
if i go into a heavy suit everything goes pop. its a loose loose situation - go heavy delay the enemy squad and take some with me, but then all my support will go as they have no where to spawn in.
orbitals - sometimes i will get enough solo WP's to get major orbitals, but oh no i am not in a squad so cannot use it.
if your honest most people play solo - in any one battle you will see 1 or maybe 2 squads so realistically 20-40% and the remaining 60-80% could be in a squad if they wanted to, or indeed in a corp but choose not to.
for pubs they need to reduce squad size or give the option of solo players only mode - games would be very easy to balance then, good games = good fun and higher player retention. Squads for the silent majority are currently the bane of the game as its a case of oh, they have a squad of 6 proto players we have none this will be a good match....yea.
no need to go into the details of squads bringing far superior gear and vehicles to the battle, which helps to make things even more lopsided. personally i detest being stomped or stomping and will often leave if i am on the stomping side as its horribly tedious and not enjoyable. If i am on the side being stomped ill bring out the cheap suits with the solo purpose of destroying as much isk as possible. 1500 isk for a dren sentinel with 3 BP militia plates and a HMG ....take one or 2 down with me a make sure those body's can't be revived 10k isk for a ammar assalt with militia scram i can loose these all day and make a profit, kill 4-5 proto suits and in my mind i have won. realistically even that is pretty tedious but better than being the stomp er.
CCP need to address balance both for squad players and solo, full team syncing needs to be implemented to face other full teams, realistically this is what the hardcore players want and should have the option for. then there should be games based around small squads for those without enough players to make a full team but these should be based around teams of 4 so each team can have an equal number of squads 2 to 4 on each side to help with balancing with the remaining slots using solo players. if there are not enough squads in the que solo players could be involved in solo only battles. |
